Easy to read and held my interest ... important for these types of reads. Decent case studies but unfortunately not so much as relevant to my environment or use case. That said, the point was made and presented well. Recommended reading for all business owners or CEO's
Bratton holds transparency and working collaboratively in high regard in order to solve larger problems. Despite all the executives throughout the countless bureaucracies in America, not many have the gravitas to meet, greet, and imbue others with the desire to want to work with him to achieve resolution to wicked societal problems. Regardless of who the next mayor may be, you belong in NYC.
Bratton and Tuman do a great job in breaking down the importance of collaborating amongst people and organizations.
Great book, very practical for leaders in the contemporary era when collaboration is a must. I love the real world examples of collaboration in practice the authors have detailed in this book
Extremely useful an knowledgeable book especially for the management professional. By reading this book you will develop a better insight on the proper method to supervise.
The subject of social problem solving is usually about the individual facing problem(s) and solving them through changes in self behavior or through hiring employees who will have sectional responsibility.

Bratton and Tumin point out through magnificent multi-industry examples that in significant system wide problems that collaboration from within and outside are the only way to accomplish breakthrough solutions and implementations.

This should be considered the bible of this type of thinking about problems that permeates industry, science and society.
Having pre-ordered the book for on affinity (I study the topic of collaboration in my work) and on admiration (big fan of Bratton's work in NY and LA, and know Tumin professionally), I was expecting to like the book. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. It truly is a must-read for people with any interest or professional requirement for cooperative problem-solving and joint solutions. The case studies are not only rock-solid in explaining specific approaches, but are fascinating. Several, like the salmonella case study, could and should be studied and emulated across government, the military, and NGOs as a paradigmatic example of the multiplying magic of collaborative swarming. Readable, wry in spots, and thought-provoking - I'm buying several for colleagues and highly recommending it to friends.
